Job Description.

We are looking for an experienced video editor to join our team and help create video content for Acre Dogs and other brands under the creative direction of Wendy Williams Watt. This is a freelance contract position with full-time equivalent hours based in Vancouver, BC for the next 1-2 months. It may lead to ongoing freelance work or a full time position if there is a good fit. We are looking for an ambitious superstar who wants to help tell some amazing stories.

The Project.

We will be creating documentary style videos for publication on Youtube and acredogs.com and editing many platform specific short form videos and clips for publication on all major social media networks. Our first objective is to tell stories about dog rescues, rehabilitation, veterinary care, adoption and the people who make it happen at Acre Dogs. There is lots of existing footage to work with and we will be capturing more as we go. In addition to storytelling content, we will be creating product based videos for our online store.

Location.

This job is located in Vancouver, BC with no possibility of remote work from another city. You’ll primarily be working in person with Wendy and team at our brand new work space near Olympic Village. It’s a great creative environment in a perfect spot close to SkyTrain with food and other amenities nearby.

Compensation.

Negotiable commensurate with experience and dependent upon the scope and schedule of work. We will either create a contract for full time work for a fixed period or pay an hourly rate for freelance work. We’ll work with you to find the right fit.

Must Have.

  • Industry experience as a video editor with a portfolio of past projects.
  • Skills and experience in quickly editing video/audio using a mainstream platform like Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Skills and experience in creating titles, graphics and effects using Adobe After Effects.
  • Colour grading skills using raw footage.
  • Audio and sound effects editing and optimization skills.
  • Your own professional equipment including a laptop and all necessary software to perform professional video/audio editing.
  • Ability to be adaptable and take direction in a small team.
  • Self sufficiency and ability to learn the brand style and make consistent editing decisions.
  • Love of dogs.

Nice to Have.

  • Advanced skills in editing with graphics, motion effects, sound effects or animation.
  • Rare taste in music with the knowledge of where to find it and how to license it for various platforms.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, culture, formats, trends, algorithms and analytics.
  • Videography and cinematography would be valuable in an ongoing role, although we are currently focused on editing.
  • Your own professional video/audio equipment and be fast and proficient at using it in the field. (We have some gear as well.)
  • Knowledge and experience capturing and editing great audio using on camera and lavalier microphones.
  • Photography and photo editing skills.
  • Experience using a drone to capture footage. Maybe you own one.
  • Spanish speaking.
