Acre Dog 1101

male
medium-large size

Meet Jimmy. He will go down as one of the most famous Acre Dogs. Why? Because he has reminded us that rescue dogs go through a lot and it’s not always an easy journey to their new home.

Jimmy is 1 of 6 pups from the Monte litter (1097-1102) who were found abandoned in the Animas hills near Acre Resort. After several months at the Animal Sanctuary, he arrived in Vancouver on December 13th and did not have a great reaction to his flight in the belly of the plane. While he attached himself quickly to his foster, he became extremely fearful of other people and most things in his new world. He needed – and still needs – attention and training from a dedicated dog owner. His adoption plan had to be delayed and he was placed into temporary foster with William of our Acre Dogs north team while waiting for a permanent place to land.

We have witnessed an enormous transformation in Jimmy over the last week. For the first time on January 17th he let down his guard and spilled over with affection for William after 7 days of patience and training. He gains in confidence every day and interacts wonderfully with other dogs. He is becoming curious about meeting new people and opening up to taking treats and pets from strangers. The person who has a place in their heart for Jimmy will be rewarded with a very special and loyal dog.

He is potty trained, neutered and has received many of his initial vaccinations. He sits on command and is doing well on leash. Over the last couple days has been off leash and becoming a superstar celebrity dog at Kits Dog Beach.
